ALTUM Partnership

BADideas.fund works with ALTUM under the “Pre-Seed and Seed Stage Venture Capital Fund” programme, financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

Through it, we invest in startups that fit the EU’s priorities, including digital transformation, the green transition and economic resilience.

About the Project

This initiative is supported by ALTUM and financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), as part of Latvia’s national recovery plan. The fund is €20.67 million: €18.6 million from ALTUM and the rest from private investors. The fund runs from 2024 to 2034. It makes new investments for the first 5 years, at pre-seed and seed.

The fund backs founders from Latvia and the rest of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) who want to sell worldwide, mainly in B2B and marketplaces. Each startup must meet EU funding rules and ALTUM’s investment guidelines.

Our Collaboration with ALTUM

We want to be the investors we wished we had when we built our own startups. We believe Latvia and the rest of CEE produce more large companies than investors expect. Backing them takes more than money: it takes access to the best companies and help from people who have run companies.

ALTUM’s backing lets us grow a fund whose deals come from our community. More than 200 syndicate members, founders and operators from CEE unicorns that have raised several billion euros between them, look for new startups for us. This is our main advantage: founders come to us because they want to work with people who built what they want to build.

Through this collaboration:

  • We provide equity investments to early-stage companies led by CEE-rooted founders with global ambition
  • We contribute to Latvia’s and Europe’s long-term growth strategy – supporting innovation, sustainability, and inclusion

Every company funded under this programme must follow EU and Latvian rules on publicity.
